Before the auction

How do I view the catalogue?

To view a catalogue prior to an auction, visit our catalogue page and select the auction you wish to view.

Can I view the lots in person?

Public viewing is available on the day before the sale between 10am – 6pm and from 9am on sale day. A free catalogue is available to download prior the auction. We are happy to provide condition reports on any lot in forthcoming auctions sent via email. This is a free service and we urge all prospective bidders who are unable to inspect items in person to make use of this.

What is a condition report?

A condition report is an Auctioneers opinion on the condition, age and authenticity of the item. We are happy to provide condition reports on any lot in forthcoming auctions. This is a free service and we urge all prospective bidders who are unable to inspect items in person to make use of this. Please note our catalogue descriptions do not make any reference to the condition of the item(s), and all weights and measures given in the catalogue should be regarded as approximate. Condition reports can be requested by selecting the Lot Enquiry button in the catalogue.

What is Buyer’s Premium?

The Buyer’s Premium is the Auctioneers commission (15%), which is added to the hammer price. When bidding via easyLive Auction there is an additional 3% surcharge plus VAT. Alternatively you can opt to pay a £3 flat fee for the entire auction with no additional internet fees to pay which can result in significant savings.

How can bid for a lot?

You can bid for lots using the following methods:

Bid live through www.easyliveauction.com

In person on the day of the sale – subject to any current social distancing rules.

Place a commission / absentee bid via our contact form and let the Auctioneer bid on your behalf

Telephone bidding by prior arrangement to the commencement of the auction

Do I need to register before I bid?

Yes, all first time buyers need to register with us, the process is free and straightforward. Once registered you will receive a unique bidding number to use at all of our future sales. To register simply follow this link which will take you to easyLive auction.

How can I bid if I can’t attend the auction?

If you are unable to participate in the live internet auction and would like to leave a commission bid, simply use the contact form or call us on 01386 300733.

In addition you can leave an Autobid with easyLive Auction which acts similar to a commission / absentee bid

Will you automatically bid up to my maximum amount if I place a commission / absentee bid?

Absolutely not. We always start the bidding below your commission bid value unless your bid is beaten by a subsequent higher commission bid in order to give you a fair chance of obtaining the lot at a lower price. If your bid is unchallenged you will obtain the lot at the full amount of your bid as you will in effect be the highest bidder (also known as a maiden bid). If your commission bid beats a rival bid you will obtain the lot for the lower amount up to your stated limit. In the event that your bid is matched by a live bid, the live bid takes precedence and will beat your bid.

How do I bid by telephone?

We offer a free telephone bidding service, you can arrange to bid by telephone by contacting us prior to the auction.

How telephone bidding works: A few lots prior to your potential lot going under the hammer, a member of our team will telephone you and bid on your behalf, relaying your bids to the auctioneer. Please note bid amounts do not include Buyer’s Premium.

How can I bid live online?

Details of how you can bid live online can be found on our Live Internet Bidding page or by logging on to the easyLive Auction platform.
